Ted Williams Outboard Serial Numbers
In the later years there were brand names like 'Craftsman','Ted Williams' and 'Gamefisher', these were smaller horsepowers manufactured by McCulloch, Force, Clinton, Tanaka and Eska. By 1987 most all brand names were discountinued in favor of Gamefisher brand and these were all made by Force from 1987 through 1996.

ESKA sold its first outboard in 1960. Eska took a single cylinder air cooled engine made by Tecumseh and attached it to a Clinton lower unit. It was about as simple as could be. They continued unchanged until 1973 when Eska introduced a water cooled two cylinder 9.9 and 15 HP motor. They went out of business in 1987. Eska supplied motors to many retailers such as Sears, Pennys, Grants and others. Be advised that many Sears, Clinton and Eska parts are interchangeable, including Gamefisher & Ted Williams. All parts are guaranteed to be in good, serviceable condition and have a 30 day return policy. I have just gotten a Ted Williams 5hp motor. Got her up and running seems to run good. Is there anything about this motor that I should know about new to the outboard world.
